The Miniature Wheel

(Price)
$65.00 SGD
Mini Pottery Workshop Singapore
( Description )

A miniature wheel throwing experience — centre, open, and pull clay into small vessels using a tabletop electric pottery wheel. The same technique as a full-size wheel, at a scale that makes every movement immediate and tactile. No experience required. All materials, tools, and firing included. Pieces opted for firing ready for collection in 4 weeks.

A hands-on introduction to wheel throwing — at a miniature scale. Using a small electric pottery wheel, you’ll centre, open, and pull clay into vessels that fit in the palm of your hand. The same technique as a full-size wheel, in a format that makes the process immediately tactile and accessible. No prior experience needed.

Over the course of two hours, you’ll work with clay on a miniature electric pottery wheel — guided through the foundational movements of wheel throwing: centering, opening, and pulling the clay into form. Because the scale is smaller, the feedback is more immediate. You can feel the whole form at once, which makes it an excellent first encounter with the wheel.

Minimum age: 10 years old. Suitable for beginners and those who have never touched a wheel before.

What You’ll Make

You’ll throw up to two miniature ceramic pieces during the session — small bowls, cups, or vessels, depending on what takes shape on the wheel. After the workshop, we process, glaze, and kiln-fire your work in our studio. A transparent glaze is applied as standard — food-safe, microwave-safe, and dishwasher-safe.

Finished pieces are ready for collection approximately 8–12 weeks after your session.

Group Bookings

Our studio is well set up for group sessions on the miniature wheel — everyone works at their own wheel simultaneously, which makes it a particularly engaging format for team-building, birthdays, or private events. Get in touch and we’ll plan it with you.

Good to Know

Come in comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting clay on. Keep your nails trimmed — it makes a real difference when shaping on the wheel. Aprons are provided.

Please arrive at least 5 minutes before your session begins. Latecomers may miss the opening demonstration, which we cannot repeat in order to keep the class going. On arrival, kindly remove your shoes on the first floor and change into our studio slippers before coming upstairs. No food or drinks are allowed in the studio, and we ask that you avoid bringing valuables.

If you need to reschedule, a SGD 20 rescheduling fee per person applies. Pottery that remains uncollected beyond 4 weeks from the date of collection notice will be discarded without further notice.

Clay is an unpredictable material — cracks, warping, and imperfections can occur after the workshop during drying or firing, even after a piece has left the wheel in good shape. This is a natural part of working with clay, and something every potter learns to accept. We do not offer remakes or replacements for pieces that crack after the class. What you take home is handmade — shaped by your hands, on a miniature wheel, in a single session — and that’s what makes it yours.

Finished pieces left uncollected for more than 28 days after notification will be discarded. Collection only — delivery and shipping to be arranged by participants.

Please review our Studio Policies before booking. By signing up for this workshop, you agree to uphold all studio policies here.

Continuing Your Practice

If the wheel stays with you after this session, our full-size wheel throwing workshops and structured class packages — from Basics through to Intermediate — are the natural next step. Participants who sign up for a class package on the day of their workshop receive complimentary firing credit for 2 pieces regardless of size.
